The idea of orchestral metal worries me, especially twinned with "big fat songs" from Sophia. I'm worried, because it makes me think of two other bands, Nightwish and Evanescence. No disrespect meant to those bands, but I absolutely hate their music. I'm sure you'll get it right. The Snow Queen was fairly good, and You're Too Beautiful (I'm gonna spell it like that for now) was really wonderful.

The "love and time travel" theme sounds brilliant, I couldn't ask for anything better than that.

I think... it will have epic style songs mostly. far more epic than bluebell morning. in places it will be ORCHESTRAL METAL

TWO ALBUMS? Not that we'd see any money anyway... we still owe Cargo £4000, but once that's paid off we're home and dry and making a living out of music again......... I'm seeing it more as Hey Petrunko Part Two... And indeed I dare say all of Ooberman will be playing on this thing -

Terrific news - Hey Petrunko is my favourite album from Ooberman, it's just wall to wall classics and has a journey feel to it that makes the whole thing unified, something that Carried Away doesn't really pull off, even though it is excellent in itself.

Two albums? - always ready to pay for the best music around! Cargo £4 Gs - last time I heard some years back, wasn't it 50 big ones after Petrunk? This is great news that you've got it down to 4. I hope some of that defecit was paid off by my Oob purchases!

Aha - fascinating topic, always good to get to grips with exactly what is going to happen / has happened - particularly when it's not exactly national headline news when new Ooberman stuff is released

Big question I've got though is with all these new albums coming out, is there going to be any time to put any of them out onto the road? My mate I converted on the "Hey Petrunko" tour (last time I know of them coming down here) and myself keep on asking when is it going to happen?!?

September 2007: 'The Magic Theatre' album - new orchestral/electronic project of Dan and Sophia - experimental pop songs with a full orchestra and choir
2008: Ooberman album 4


Well, as you can see, each release took longer than expected (which is to be expected).

And so my current guess is looking like:

January 2008: Symphonika II album
September 2008: The Magic Theatre (me and Soph project)

As for Ooberman 4... it has been *talked about*, but it seems a long way off. 2009 I'd say

Dan's second to last post reminded me of my days in high school when my classmate, who just so happened to be named Dan, had a locker beside me. When we were changing classes and both getting books out of our lockers at the same time, I would the "Dan Song". It would basically consist of me singing:

Or some variation on that theme until we went off to our next class. I had that locker for 3 out of my 4 years in high school and the number (A3-28) and the combination (38-16-3) are firmly stamped in my mind.

in order to achieve our roadmap targets, we will now need to invent time travel, but i'm not ruling this out.

but seriously, there's a real flaw with the Ooberman 4 plan. that is, months of work, not being paid, only selling a few hundred copies. this problem gets in the way every time we discuss it. it's hard to see how this hurdle will ever be overcome tbh, but we'll have to see.

The Magic Theatre: work has slowed because the final stage is the lead vocals, but Sophie keeps getting sore throats. She still has 5 tracks left to sing, then it'll be a couple of weeks finishing off, then 3 months organising design and getting a launch plan in place. So... now it looks like October to me.

Yeah, Dan, just wanted to say thanks for the music - encourage you in the last stages of this project - it must seem at times like there are no people waiting for your music - but it's not true. I for one count an Oob release as an extremely high point in any year - and even more so because the quality always justifies the expectation.

In response to earlier comments from like 2 years ago, it's not exactly epic generally, apart from at certain soaring peaks. Although it's certainly a lot of songs you can sing along to. And the 'orchestral metal' has been reduced down to a VERY POWERFUL 4 seconds or so on track 8.

It's very good though, honest.
